5v5 Variant Season – NEW structure

April 5, 2020

Recap

We messed up.

Our goal for 2020 was to create a tiered Call of Duty season in which the ANZ community can invest time and effort in to, be proud to be participating in, and give those outside of the Platinum Division something to work towards when developing their Call of Duty careers.

Phase 1 went off without ANY issues and for that; we are truly thankful to all teams who participated in it. Unfortunately though, we failed to see how our structure for Phase 2 didn’t cater to many of the teams involved. Once our format was released there were some questions about whether or not the length of Phase 2 was necessary. Our goal was to stream more matches to ensure each team had a chance to be on our LIVE stream and compete against some teams they normally wouldn’t be able to. Clearly our vision wasn’t well received as many teams forfeited the Pool Play matches which left us with nothing to stream, hence why we decided to cancel the event, and in turn we have restructured the way our 5v5 Season will function.

New structure

The Australian Esports Network will now be opening Season ONE of the Platinum Division to EVERYONE!

We have dropped the entry fee down significantly to ensure you can compete in a well structured, affordable and fun season with your team. Not only that, but our season will still feature a HUGE prize pool of $4000au.

The Platinum Division will open registrations on Monday 6/4 at $40 per team in season fees with the season running for 6 weeks (Starting 20/4/20). The season will feature Pool Play which will be seeded by the current Player Points tally (https://playaen.com.au/call-of-duty-season-player-points/) and will be split as even as possible. Pools will feature a minimum of FOUR teams each, with each team playing each other once in a Single Round Robin Format. At the end of the Pool stage, the top 8 teams will play off for the final Prize Pool split in a double elimination bracket.

Season ONE of the Platinum Division will see the TOP 12 teams walk away will a a share of the $4000 Prize Pool.

1st: $1100 (27.5%)
2nd: $800 (20%)
3rd: $600 (15%)
4th: $400 (10%)
5-6th: $240ea (6%ea)
7-8th: $160ea (4%ea)
9-12th: $75ea (1.875%ea)

We want to ensure our Platinum Division isn’t seen as a “top heavy” favoured season. Our goal is to ensure all levels have a chance of walking away with experience, a desire to improve and most importantly, some prize money.

Once registrations have closed, we will release the schedule of games on our website with as many games being streamed as possible by us or by one of our affiliate streamers!

Please note, this season is strictly limited to persons over the age of 18!
